Regal Heights had a busy summer participating in NYC Queens Community Board 3’s annual Leon Von Holden Health Expo and hosting its own community health fair. Regal Heights Director of Nursing, Norrele Silvero provided diabetes screenings and health education at the Community Board Health Fair. Ms. Silvero said “It is my pleasure to be part of this wonderful community service, to meet the people in the neighborhood in which we work, and to provide this very important health screen.” Among the first to be screened were NYPD and NYC Council Member Danny Dromm (pictured).

Along with other health care providers, Regal Heights also hosted its own indoor community health fair. This popular event was enjoyed by many in the community who took advantage of the free vision screens, blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, and flu shots. There was also information on financial planning, safety in the home, and support services in the
community for seniors. Among the health care providers at this year’s fair were Forest Hills Hospital, Visiting Nurse Service of New York, Elder Law Attorney Ron Fatoullah, Senior Care Ambulance, GuildNet, Madison York Assisted Living Community, Queens Artificial Kidney Center, Advanced Cardiovascular Diagnostics, Castle Senior Living, Alzheimers Association, Duane Reade Pharmacy, United Lifeline Alert, Dr. Kenneth Smith, Home Family Care, NYPD, FDNY, and NYC Council Member Danny Dromm. Yoga, Tai chi, and Zumba demonstrations and live music and karaoke were enjoyed by all.
